Chassis 07437 is one of just ten lightweight aluminium-bodied competition Ferrari 275 GTB/C Berlinettas constructed in 1965.
Known as “Competitzione Cliente” cars by the factory, they have many distinguishing features from standard road-going vehicles: six Weber carburettors on the engine, a quick-fill outside fuel filler, extra cooling vents in the Scaglietti-designed lightweight aluminium bodywork and a special long-range fuel tank to name but a few. Rarity value is further added by 07437 being one of two from the original ten cars to have a genuine period race history, with Franco Failli piloting her during the 1967 season.
07437 remains well known in historic Ferrari circles and has formed part of some of the most significant collections of the Italian marque’s cars, including that of Bernie Ecclestone. It is regarded as an original and well-prepared example, crucially still retaining its original matching numbered engine.
It has recently been campaigned by legendary Formula One ace Chris Amon, who raced almost everything under the sun during the 1960s and ’70. As well as F1 stints with the likes of Ferrari, Matra, Tyrell, BRM, Cooper and Lotus, Amon was triumphant at Le Mans, the Silverstone International Trophy, the 1000km of Monza and the Daytona 24 Hours, and also claimed the Tasman Series title. There can few better able to do justice to such a special car!
Having been prepared for contemporary competition by marque specialist Lanzante Motorsport, 07437 has proved itself highly competitive at events including The Goodwood Revival and Le Mans Classic.
