The Porsche 911 2.7 RS Carrera was publically launched at the 1972 Paris Motorshow. Designed so that the already dominant 911 could maintain its fiercely competitive reputation on the racetrack, at least 500 production cars had to be made in order to homologate the car for competition use in Group 4 racing. There were a number of significant improvements, from the iconic aerodynamic ‘duck tail’ rear spoiler to the legendary 2.7-litre engine.
Chassis 1215 was delivered new in Touring specification, which incorporated all the best aerodynamic and mechanical improvements while still being fitted with a comfortable interior, making the Porsche ideal for fast and reliable everyday road use. Originally delivered in rare and very desirable Viper green, 1215 was in the ownership of one collector for over twenty years with an invoice file that shows he maintained the Porsche throughout his ownership regardless of cost.
Recently the subject of a complete bare-metal repaint and comprehensive gearbox overhall, this fabulous example of the fabled 911 2.7 RS Porsche, unparalleled as a dual-purpose road and track car, is ready to be used and enjoyed by its next custodian.
